The 3D Entertainment Summit, 3D Gaming Summit Both Take Place This Month

The fourth annual 3D Entertainment Summit, along with the second annual 3D Gaming Summit, will take place September 20-22, 2011 in Hollywood, CA. This is only a week and a half away and should be an exciting event for both gamers and 3D enthusiasts alike.

The 3D Entertainment Summit will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the gaming summit will take place on Thursday.

The entertainment summit will have speakers such as James Cameron and Vince Pace take center stage. It should be a great event and will be focusing on how the 3D entertainment industry is affecting businesses and consumers.

The event description website mentions exclusive 3D content being showcased; new 3D technical seminars being available; various content being showcased from 3D ads to movies and sports; and expanded 3D programming from last year’s event.

Here are some of the other aspects of the show that attendees will get to experience (via the event description website):

Get a behind the scenes look at where the market is really headed. No preprogrammed pitches, but intense, lively exchange that will put you in the forefront of where the market is going
Build Relationships with other industry leaders and potential business partners as business channels for 3D become more defined
Hear the Power Panels that gave the 3D Entertainment Summit its reputation for unmatched content from the visionaries and luminaries. Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jim Cameron and David Hill filled the room and wowed the audience with their views on 3D at the inaugural event
Samsung’s John Revie, SVP Home Entertainment, will be presenting the keynote address for the 3D Entertainment Summit. He will be presenting September, 20, at 9:50 a.m. and, before his keynote speech, there will be other opening remarks starting 8:45 a.m. An IHS screen digest will take place starting 9 a.m. that will be talking about the global reach of 3D tech and how it is expanding onto new markets.

The gaming summit will be focusing on advancements in 3D tech for gamers and ideas on what is expected from the technology in the future. News will be reveiled related to 3D innovations and products from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. Look for new games to be shown with 3D software designed to run on 3D HDTV’s and possibly some PC gaming will be showcased as well — maybe related to Nvidia’s 3D Vision or competing products.

Augmented reality will also be showcased during the gaming summit on September, 22, At 2:40 a.m. Devices that aim to utilize AR with regards to gaming, which will be talked about at the event, including the Apple iPad 2, Sony PSP, and Nintendo 3DS. This is one aspect of technology that may not be technically defined as 3D, it goes hand in hand with the tech; and, like 3D tech, hopes to pave the way for virtual reality gaming.

There will be keynotes, one-on-one interviews, panels, networking breaks, table top displays, private screening rooms and an evening special event and industry reception at the gaming summit, according to the event description website.

What may be interesting to first-person shooter fans out there, is that the gaming summit will open up with the Call of Duty co-creator Vince Zampella giving the keynote speech, as reported by CinemaBlend.

Before this keynote, opening remarks will also take place starting 8:45 a.m., along with a research session (9 a.m.) that will deal with 3D gaming trends.

The events will be hosted at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, CA. If you happen to be in the area when it takes place or live in SoCal, you might as well get your ticket now and check it out.
