At CES 2012, Panasonic had a nice showing of a variety of camcorders with 3D shooting abilities. You can watch the demo here on 3DTV.com.
The first camera shown was the HC-X900M. This stunning and high-end camera offers the ability to shoot at full-HD resolutions – this means at 1920x1080 pixels. Other features include both the ability to capture content in 2D and 3D; 16 mega pixel support; and 32GB of built-in memory.
According to CamcorderInfo, this camera also captures at 60 frames per second under the AVCHD 2.0 codec. A zoom of 12x is mentioned and a 3D conversion range. It is actually an upgrade from last year's HDC-TM900 camcorder.
There are a number of features that make this camera stand out from last year's model. The X900M features in-camera down-conversion and in-camera 2D-to-3D conversion. This will allow faster editing straight from the camcorder. The camcorder also features an improved LCD screen to preview and view content being shot.
Optical image stabilization has also been updated to include five axes of correction. Wind noise correction along with microphone zoom have also been tweaked for the better.
Another 3D camcorder that was showcased at CES, and you can watch in the demo, was the Panasonic HC-V500. This is a less expensive model from Panasonic that also offers both 2D and 3D shooting capabilities. However, this one isn't full HD but half HD as you can see in the demo.
According to CamCorderInfo's spec sheet, this camera will have AVCHD and MP4 support. It will also include support for HDMI, various SD cards, and offer full-HD resolutions for still images. Not much else has been revealed yet outside the spec list and the demo from CES 2012.
Both the HCX900 and the V500 will be shipping this spring.
